To Everything There is a Season

To Everything There is a Season

To everything – turn, turn, turn
There is a season – turn, turn, turn
A time for every purpose under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew

(Turn, Turn, Turn by the Byrds released in December 1965)

In my post dated 1 October 2009, I share just how much our first home meant to us.  I’ve chosen a couple of selected lines from the song Turn, Turn, Turn, by the Byrds which so aptly describes, for us in particular, how the seasons have now turned.

Literally there was a time to break down the old swimming pool…..

…..and a time to physically build up

a time to gain and to sew….

…..and a time to rend and to lose

There is a time to mourn, but there will also be a time to dance…..

Who said getting rid of your things was easy, no matter how exciting the road ahead might be?  It was only a couple of weeks ago when the first of many people, came to fetch items we were selling.  After helping her load them into the car and waving goodbye, I watched as she drove off with my things.  I had never had to do that before and it was a rather awkward feeling.  So I called a friend of mine in New Zealand for a bit of advice seeing as they had walked a similar road to us some months perviously.

I hadn’t calculated the time difference correctly, fortunately she was most gracious considering the rude awakening.  Our chat put things into perspective when she told me, “It’s just stuff you know, it’s a great cleansing process getting rid of your things.  It gives you a chance to start again.”

She’s right you know….To Everything There is a Season
